Week 16: New start and new views!

Hey y'all! How are you all doing? This week has really been a change in a lot of things. But it's actually been really good. So let's get into it!

Monday, not a lot happened. Elder Brinkerhoff did a lot of packing, and we also visited a few people so that Elder Brinkerhoff could say goodbye. We saw Gary and Brandon, and then we visited Georgia, who thought he was lying. Then after we had dinner at Panda Buffet with the Boones, which was really good actually. Then when we got in is what really sparked the day. It was stormy when we got home, and Elder Brinkerhoff was continuing to pack when we started hearing the Tornado Sirens. But, with Elder Brinkerhoffs wisdom, said that we would be fine. So we were actually, because nothing happened. But it was really something to witness because 90% of it I was confused as to what was going on. But after I recognized the Sirens (Because they test them every Saturday at 12) it kinda made sense but it was still confusing. So that was Monday XD.

Tuesday we got up early to make sure we have everything ready for Elder Brinkerhoff. And then we drove up to Bartlett, and it was a really nice day. Like, Monday was stormy, now Tuesday was like nothing happened. It was weird. But we got up to Bartlett, first ones there, then when everyone else showed up, we put Elder Brinkerhoffs stuff in the Trailer, I hugged him, and we went our separate ways. I want to thank him for all that he did for me, and hope to see him soon. Then I got Elder Jackson, who is from Maricopa, AZ. He can play the Guitar and the Piano, but he can't read music, so he improves what he plays so that's really cool to watch. He can also beat box, which is actually pretty legit. We then went to Collierville and had Panda, and Cheryl had to cancel because she was sick sadly. So we then visited Sister Huckaby, read the BOM with her, in 2 Nephi 2, which is really a good chapter about Agency, and the Fall of Adam and Eve and basically why it happened. Then after we came back to the Apartment, got Elder Jackson settled in a little, and then we had dinner at Brother Roswells and got him adjusted to this area.

Wednesday I wasn't too happy about our mile situation because Wednesday we also blew up our miles, but y'know? It was still a good day overall. Elder Jackson really brings a lot of things to the table, and it's really cool to see how he works. Then after all that we drove up to Byhalia, tried visiting some less actives and no one was home. Then we came up of an idea to rake leaves, so we went to a Dollar General seeing if they have any, and we met a guy who was moving in to Byhalia this next few weeks, who has lived in SLC before and has been around the church for a while, and was very, very willing to have us help him move in and talk about the church. So that was cool. Then we sent out scriptures, asked who to visit, drove all the way back up to Upper Byhalia, tried visiting a less active, but the dad was saying they were moving. Then we went across the street and met a guy named Raphael. He was a cool guy who knows about almost every religion and knows the background behind it. He asked a few questions and invited him to church to see what it's like. Then we visited a part member home and talked with the Father who isn't a member but he was really cool. Then after that we had dinner at Roswells again, but it was good.

Thursday was pretty good also actually. We went up to Lamar and visited quite a bit of people, and helped each of them in a different way. We had a miracle when we were talking with one member and she was very open with us, and it honestly surprised me, but I was very thankful that the Branch is starting to get more open. We also had dinner at Mockys, and also visited Georgia, who we helped make sure she got a ride to church Sunday, and helped answer questions that she had. It was overall a pretty good day.

Friday we did the Animal Shelter, and planned out our day, we went up again to Byhalia because we had dinner there. We tried doing some less active contacts and no luck there. We also got a referral that day so we tried contacting her. And so throughout this week, our Planner App on the Area Phone was being really dumb, and wasn't downloading back onto the device, so we were calling to figure out what we need to do, and after a while, we finally got it back up and working again. Yay technology. But at least I know how to work that out haha, and we had dinner at the Hardmans, and ate some really interesting noodles, which were pretty good with hot sauce haha. And next Saturday we are planning to help them fix their floors.

Saturday was pretty interesting. We planned on sticking around Holly Springs and visiting people here. So after all of our studies, we were driving out to get air in our tires, but we got trapped in traffic on our street. Because come to find out, Rust College was having their Homecoming Parade and so we sat there for 30 minutes until the parade ended. Then we got air, visited that referral, gave her the Book of Mormon, and set up a time for Sunday. Then we came back home and walked around Holly Springs for a while, which then later on we met someone named James who is Baptist and was open to listen and watch a video we had to share. And we set up a time to visit him next Saturday so I hope that workouts. Then we came back home, then drove out to get pizza, and came back and did Weekly Planning and figured out what we wanted to accomplish for the new week.

Sunday was interesting. We actually had a lot of less actives come on Sunday which was really good. Even Georgia, and Floyd, and more. It was really awesome. And Elder Jackson did a good job on his talk, which was also better, even though President Griffith had him tell stuff about him haha. Then after church we tried visiting our referall but it ended up not working out sadly, so then we did Personal Study and visited a family down in Potts Camp and had a really good discussion with them which was really good. Then after that we came back up and had dinner at Roswells and did call ins.

This week has been really crazy, but you can learn a lot from people, and that's what is really cool about it. Everyone brings something new to the table, and I'm thankful for the new perspectives I get from them. And I want to share a latin translation of something I enjoy singing a lot.. Here it is:
In articulo mortis
Caelitus mihi vires
Deo adjuvante non timendum
In perpetuum
Dirige no domine
Ad augusta per angusta
Sic itur ad astra
Excelsior

Which translates to:
At the moment of death
My strength is from heaven
God helping, nothing should be feared
Forever
Direct us, O Lord
To high places by narrow roads
Such is the path to the stars
Ever upward

God is always there for you, and he will take away your pain and fear, all you have to do is ask with faith. I love y'all, and if you have any questions, feel free to message me. Have a wonderful week.

Love,

Elder Braxton Hotton
